²¤ÂÜÊÓƵapp College Jumps to Glory! - ²¤ÂÜÊÓƵapp

²¤ÂÜÊÓƵapp

At the end of September, ²¤ÂÜÊÓƵapp College ran the annual Inter Schools Team and Individual Show Jumping Competition at . The event attracted over 130 horse and rider combinations, with 20 schools putting forward riders to compete. The day was a huge success, despite the inclement weather.

The event started with the 45-50cm class, which is aimed towards the younger riders and assistance was allowed. This saw many parents putting in the leg work and leading their young children over the small fences. Class one set the tone for the day with a very successful start.

Whilst the riders of class one enjoyed some lovely settled and sunny weather, the competitors in class two were not so lucky. The rain came and went during the 65-70cm class, but the students prevailed.  It was a competitive class with four teams finishing on a team score of zero and some fast times. The ²¤ÂÜÊÓƵapp riders did well in this class, finishing as the fastest four faulters in 5th place. Well done Rosie C, Darcey G, and Louise M-S. Rosie and her pony Macho did well enough to receive 3rd in the individual rankings, a very impressive result in the biggest class of the day (with over 60 starters!).

While the rain had caused some upset in class two, the true challenge came with class three, the 85-90cm… Stormy weather came in and the conditions shifted violently from sunny and still, to furious wind and rain. Despite these challenges the show went on. A special mention must go to ²¤ÂÜÊÓƵapp rider Henry C and his horse Blue, who experienced the very worst of the day’s weather and still managed to get round with only four faults. ²¤ÂÜÊÓƵapp received their best results in this final class, with team ²¤ÂÜÊÓƵapp Blue finished in 4th position. Congratulations to Danielle I, Scarlett S-H, Ralf B, and Matilda S.  Ralf B did exceptionally well with his horse, preventing Cottesmore from taking every win available and flying round to win the class by over 4.5 seconds!

Well done to all those riders who attended the show, there was some brilliant riding seen across all the levels. The ²¤ÂÜÊÓƵapp Equestrian students did the school proud, both with their riding and their assistance in the smooth running of the competition.

Keep up to date with ²¤ÂÜÊÓƵapp!
